Promotion of Economic Prospects (PEP) for Refugees and Host Community in Turkey Project
Implemented by GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), PEP focuses on creating employment opportunities through skills development and qualification, supporting small enterprises and entrepreneurship as well as strengthening the private sector. The project is based on the successes and experiences of the two “Cash for Work” projects (2016 – 2019).
PEP supports REMI with Turkish language courses for Syrian participants whose Turkish is not yet sufficient to attend the REMI solar courses. Other possible fields of cooperation are related to supporting beneficiaries in their job placements as well as companies, e.g. via covering costs for work permits, health insurance fees or salaries. On the other hand, PEP can benefit from the experiences of the cross-sectoral REMI approach for future activities.
Gaziantep Chamber of Industry (GSO) and Gaziantep Chamber of Industry Vocational Training Center (GSO-MEM)
Gaziantep Chamber of Industry has proven to be a professional and reliable partner in previous projects carried out by GIZ in Turkey. The REMI project is working together with GSO on 2 different components:
The solar trainings are being conducted in the facilities of the GSO-MEM training center in Gaziantep. The private sector cooperation component is being led by GSO.
